Eastwick Reflections

‘Today we took a trip to the Eastwick Community Garden. It’s our neighboring garden and is currently in danger of being replaced by an airport parking lot. I don’t know what tunnel-visioned supervisor thinks industrialized urban parking lots beat luscious multipurpose gardens that many people rely on. It upsets me that people still think so selfishly. This is the last time I’ll just let the city’s plan just roll over me. This is a cause I can fight for.

It’s time to voice our opinion
It’s time to fight
It’s time to rebel!’- Charles

‘Today we went to the Eastwick Community Garden and I learned so much about how to grow plants where they would taste so much better. I learned how to prevent weeds. I also saw how valuable this garden is to the farmers and how much they cared for it. And you can’t say they are doing it for money because they can’t sell it.

A million starts with one
One life one chance
Make a difference’ – Angel

‘ On July 12, 2011 the SCRG Crew (which is us) went ot our neighbor’s garden which is called the Eastwick Community Garden. The first thing we did was meet a professor from the University of Penn named Mike and we started to talk about the history of the Eastwick Community Garden. Next we went to find out about sustainability, we made videos, looked at our neighbor’s garden and all the fruits and vegetables in it. We ate grapes and tried different things.’- Kyiona
